Adolescent Mental Health Program
Young people can have mental, emotional, and behavioral problems that are real and painful, and are sources of stress for them and their families, schools, and communities. It is estimated that as many as one in five children and adolescents may have a mental health disorder that can be identified and require treatment. A great deal of our work focuses on developmental processes, with the goal of keeping children and adolescents mentally healthy and maintain them on course to become mentally healthy adults. Our outpatient Adolescent Program treats adolescents ages 12-17. The program takes place in the evening to not interfere with the teen’s schooling. Our patients receive specialized and age-appropriate care as we are one of the only mental health agencies in the area with a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist on staff. After all, disorders that present themselves in childhood and adolescence can be very different than those in adulthood. We believe family is a key factor in the treatment of the adolescent patient therefore the family and the treatment team work closely together to achieve the best outcomes for patient’s well-being in this program.
Adolescent Substance Abuse Program
Our outpatient Adolescent Substance Abuse Program treats adolescents ages 12-17. Their suite is separated from the adult suite with locked doors, though our teens participate in the same dynamic treatment schedule as our adults. Teens attend our program after school to not interfere with their academic schedule. Adolescents ages 16 and up may be considered for Suboxone therapy, if needed, and as deemed appropriate and mutually agreed upon by the psychiatrist, guardian, and adolescent patient.
