Mental Health IOP Programs

You’re frustrated and feel helpless. Everything you’ve tried hasn’t worked.
We’re here to help you and your family.

Children ages 4-11

A great deal of our work focuses on developmental processes, with the goal of helping children develop appropriate skills and emotional regulation to prepare them to become healthy adults. Our outpatient Child Program treats children as young as age four in a private suite, separated from patients in higher age categories. The program takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings to not interfere with the child’s schooling. Our program is designed for little attention spans and is presented in brief and structured therapy sessions. Our young patients receive the finest clinical care available as we are one of the only mental health agencies in the area with an IOP program designed specifically for children, and a board certified Child and Adolescent psychiatrist on staff. We believe family is a key factor in the treatment of the whole child patient. Therefore, the family and the treatment team work closely together to help achieve the best outcomes for the mental and behavioral wellness of the child.

Our program consists of group therapy for children, providing crisis stabilization as well as an initial evaluation and continued oversight by a board-certified Child Psychiatrist.  We can help children with a variety of behavioral health issues including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD)

  • Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED)
  • Trauma
  • Self-harm
  • Suicidal Ideation

  • School Phobia
  • Eating Disorders
  • Gender/Identity
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

The IOP groups are led by licensed and experienced therapists who specialize in children’s issues.  The length of the program is individualized depending on client needs.

After completion of the IOP program, the child may continue to stay under the care of the child psychiatrist.  ABC also recommends continuing individual and family therapy along with IOP, as well as after IOP completion with the child’s therapist.

Our families and parents are encouraged to attend a complementary weekly one-hour Parent Support Group as a part of this program.  Groups are led by a physician, pharmacist, or a counselor on topics such as medication awareness and education, communication techniques, good coping skills, relationships, and boundaries, and healthy parenting skills, and are held while the child is in group.

But the first step is to schedule a free clinical phone consultation with us. We will gather some information about your child’s specific needs and concerns, and determine the appropriate level of care and group for your situation. Intake calls usually only take a few minutes and can be scheduled online by clicking the link below.
